Nutrition Tips for Beautiful Skin
Want your face to glow? Food can boost your skin health.
When you nourish your body with food to promote health, you also nourish your skin. By selecting certain foods, you can turn around your tired-looking skin. Here’s how to eat your way to a better complexion.
- Eat the rainbow – colorful vegetables and fruit. Researchers have found that increased intake of carotenoids, found in bright colored vegetables such as tomatoes, leafy greens, bell peppers as well as sweet potatoes can reduce reddening and other skin discoloration.
- Abandon the typical Western Diet – rich in fat and added sugar. This standard American diet is inflammatory and may lead to inflammatory skin conditions. It is also deficient in phytonutrients, anti-oxidants, and nutrients that protect our skin.
- Implement an Anti-Inflammatory or Mediterranean plan: include nuts, vegetables, fruits, whole grains, soy, fish (omega-3-fats) and olive oil, along with a variety of minimally processed foods.
Remember, since skin health starts from the inside it is dependent upon our dietary choices.
