Certified FODMAP Nutritionist in Long Island, Reduce IBS and Digestive Discomfort

FODMAP stands for “Fermentable Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides and Polyols.” These fermentable short-chain carbohydrates are osmotic (they pull water into the intestinal tract), may not be digested or absorbed well, and could be fermented by bacteria in the intestinal tract. Symptoms of gas, bloating, cramping or diarrhea may occur in those who are sensitive to the effects of FODMAPs therefore a low FODMAP diet may help reduce symptoms. This diet is often used in those with irritable bowel syndrome or those with digestive disorders.

Nancy has a private practice, serving clients in Long Island and Queens. Online nutrition consultations are available.
